As a Los Angeles wedding planner, I have the privilege of witnessing love stories that are as unique as the couples themselves. But Ashley and Jamie’s wedding was truly one for the books. Their celebration at The Fig House was not only modern and romantic, but it was also filled with meaningful, personal touches that reflected their deep connection, love for basketball, and admiration for Kobe Bryant.

How They Met
Ashley and Jamie first crossed paths working in the same department. Though they barely spoke at first, everything changed when they both joined a co-ed basketball league through work. As they spent more time together, they discovered they had the same jersey number growing up, #35, and a shared love for Kobe. Eventually, Ashley asked Jamie to happy hour, and the rest was history.

The Wedding Inspiration
The couple’s wedding date, 8.24.24, was a meaningful nod to Kobe Bryant. Their vision was to create a tasteful homage to him while celebrating their love story through a modern, playful, and high-energy aesthetic.
Choosing The Fig House for their Los Angeles Wedding
Located in the heart of Highland Park, The Fig House was the perfect wedding venue for Ashley and Jamie. Its vibrant art-deco interiors, lush garden courtyard, and urban hideaway vibe checked all the boxes. For this Southern California wedding, it felt like home.

Wedding Style & Unique Touches
The couple coined their aesthetic “modern romance”- a balance of clean, trendy design with fun and personal accents. Some standout moments:
- A groom’s lounge turned speakeasy
- A lively photo booth and caricature artist
- Non-traditional ceremony music
- Each bridal party stood on the opposite side to face the other bride

Planning with Purpose as a Los Angeles Wedding Planner
As a couple who had experience in event planning, Ashley and Jamie knew they wanted to bring on a planner who could execute their vision. From the start, they knew we were the perfect fit. They appreciated the clear communication, attention to detail, and collaborative design process.
“We really enjoyed the design deck process and seeing how it came to life on the day of.”
Favorite Moments
Jamie’s favorite moment: A surprise voice note from Ashley played just before she walked down the aisle.
Ashley’s favorite moment: Watching Jamie’s emotional reaction through the mirror before walking down the aisle.

Final Words from the Couple
“We couldn’t be happier with our wedding day and working with Jessica through the planning process. We’re so sad it’s over but grateful to have made a friend for life.”
