Where do I start with these two? Sonal and Brian’s anniversary party was a breathtaking celebration of love and joy. Held at one of my favorite modern and colorful venues, The Fig House. The atmosphere was filled with pure enchantment from the moment guests arrived. Family traveled from across the globe to meet and celebrate Sonal + Brian.
Sonal + Brian first connected as most modern LA couples do, on an app! Sonal took the lead by first reaching out to Brian, and after some back and forth they had their first virtual date, cocktails in hand, over facetime for 7 hours! Sparks flew and after many dates and blending their lives together, they officially married at a courthouse wedding in the spring of 2022.
Fast forward to 2023 and it was time to gather all of their friends and family to have a big, fun celebration!
Sonal reached out to me toward the end of 2022 and had some of their anniversary party planned, but still had some gaps to fill in. They were looking for help from a pro to guide them through the next several months. After talking to Sonal it felt kismet knowing we lived just 5 minutes from each other and both had stories to share about growing up in the valley! At the beginning of 2023, I jumped right in with only 5 months to finish planning their big day.
Sonal shares why she fell in love with The Fig House:
“The artwork, the cute fun colorful furniture, the coziness of the courtyard, and of course the amazing food and drink program!!! Best wedding food we’ve ever had!”
Fig House Dinner Reception
When we started talking about design, decor, and colors, the couple was clear from the start. They wanted it to be colorful, joyful, and not at all pretentious or stuffy. We settled on a color palette of vibrant orange, pink, peach, and yellow. LA Tige Studio created lush greenery runners with fun pops of color. The vibe was fun, bright, and modern which fit perfectly with the aesthetic of Fig House.
In keeping with the fun, laid back vibe of the day, the couple made sure their guests were well fed into the night. A late night snack of McDonald’s cheeseburgers and fries was a fun surprise for guests that were hitting both the bar and the dancefloor!
What I loved about this event was how the group really utilized all of the areas we carefully planned. The lounges were full of intimate conversations of family traveling to the States, the speakeasy room was packed with guests wanting to try Brian’s Jazz, a custom cocktail recipe created by Brian himself! And as the evening went on the dance floor was packed!
Sonal shares her advice for couples planning a wedding or celebration:
“Hire Jessica! haha. Other than that, expect that everything will be a little more stressful, a little more work, and a little to a lot more money than you think! But also, enjoy it – the event goes by so fast and you’ll miss thinking about all the little details!”
Sonal and I both shared how sad we were when the party was over. It was a jam packed 5 months working with these two, but every moment was so fun! As a Los Angeles wedding planner, the best part of my job has always been the connections and relationships I build with clients during this special and fleeting time in their lives. I’m a softy and I feel so much nostalgia looking back at these photos.
Congratulations to Sonal + Brian!
