The week of Ayla and Benjamin’s wedding started off with figuring out potential rain plans which would have meant moving the entire event indoors and a complete shift to the floorplan. Thankfully, a couple of days before, the clouds parted and we were graced with perfect March sun for this modern and minimal Redbird wedding.
The Redbird garden is one of my favorite places to work. For couples that are not hung up on a traditional wedding sequence and want more of an intimate evening dining with loved ones; the garden at Redbird is perfect. Tucked away in DTLA at the back of the restaurant you’ll find a working vegetable garden, pizza oven, and the event space lined with olive trees and cozy bistro lights.
Ayla share’s what drew them to Redbird and why they chose the garden for their wedding day:
“We love how it was quaint and a touch magical to have this little garden tucked away in the big city and could instantly envision seeing our family and friends celebrate under the bistro lights and olive trees with great food and drinks.”
Another thing I love about a Redbird wedding is all of the unique spots for photos. The garden is magical in itself and perfect for a first look. The restaurant also has additional private dining rooms showcasing the building’s historic architecture. Of course, being in DTLA you have the bustling streets to capture the energy of the city!
Redbird Wedding Ceremony
Ayla describes their wedding style as clean, simple, and a bit whimsical to go with the garden setting of the venue. They opted for a clean and classic color palette of peach, ivory, and taupe which played perfectly against the garden’s lush olive trees and plants. The Little Branch created modern and pretty florals which were the perfect touch to the venue’s existing landscape.
I’m always happy when there is a 4 legged friend included on the wedding day. The couples dog, Barry is very important to them so it was a top priority to find a venue that would allow pets. Barry was a complete gentleman and walked Ayla down the aisle. He sat calmly through the ceremony, seeing his mom and dad officially marry, and even jumped in on their first dance later in the evening!
As a Los Angeles wedding planner, I absolutely love working with couples at Redbird. The staff and food are incredible and I love working with couples to create a unique day in the venues beautiful garden setting.
